Saving Notting Hill Police Station and Cutting Crime

Sadiq Khan closed Notting Hill Police Station 7 years ago - and its sat empty ever since. I've been campaigning for the Mayor to reopen Notting Hill Police Station as a fully fledged police station.

But if he doesn't, I've campaigned and helped pass a new law which allows community social value to be taken into account when selling disused police stations like Notting Hill. This means the Mayor doesn't have to sell off our police station to the highest bidder for luxury flats.

If he sells it, I will work closely with Conservative-run Kensington and Chelsea Council on a plan to buy back the station for police and community use.

It's frustrating that the Mayor has ignored our calls to reopen Notting Hill Police Station and instead left an important community asset empty.

And I know you want to see more police on the streets to tackle crime - and so do I.

That's why the Government has already recruited an extra 3,666 police officers for London.

And this is already having results in Kensington. This year, every council ward is getting at least one additional police officer

In fact, Sadiq Khan was provided with Government funding for another 1,000 officers for London but failed to recruit them.

I will always make the case for a greater police presence here in Kensington to keep residents safe.
