Kensington has flooded several times since 2000, and most recently in July 2021.
The impact of that flood was severe; residents and businesses lost property, insurance premiums skyrocketed, and in the worst cases people were displaced from their homes.
Since becoming your local MP, I have been campaigning hard for short and long-term infrastructure investment in our sewage and drainage system.
While I welcome the investment Thames Water has made to protect properties from flooding, it does not go nearly far enough.
Thames Water recognise the scale and severity of the problem but refuse to commit the necessary investment to protect all Kensington properties from a future flooding event.
So I will continue to work with DEFRA and Ofwat, the water regulator, to put pressure on Thames Water to make sure residents' homes are protected.
