We wrote an open letter to Sadiq Khan calling on him to re-open Notting Hill Police Station or, at the very least, make a decision to sell the station so Kensington and Chelsea could put in a bid to buy it back. You can read the letter HERE.
The Deputy Mayor, Sophie Linden responded:
"While disposals of assets are a decision for the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), the Mayor would not wish to take any such decisions without considering the operational implications and the recommendations of the MPS Management Board. We will consider the proposals put forward by the MPS at the conclusion of its work.
Given the points raised by the Casey Review around invigorating the frontline of policing and the additional mayoral investment to support recruitment, it is clear that there is an increased likelihood that the MPS will need to retain more buildings than previously thought. MOPAC is in discussions with the MPS about expediting decisions where possible."
While there are positive tones to her letter, we still do not have a timeframe for action nor a commitment to reopen the station. Read the full letter below.
