Today I visited the following schools in Kensington -

It was a pleasure to meet with Headteachers and teaching staff as they prepare for the new term.
During my visits we discussed the Labour Party's proposed 20% VAT on independent school fees.
I have been clear that (1) this policy makes no economic sense (2) this policy will hurt just-about-managing parents, who have the right to school choice (3) this policy, if advanced, has the potential to overwhelm local state providers with a rapid intake of students.
School fees help to provide full and part bursaries, extending opportunity to families without the means to pay. These fees also contribute to partnership projects and community outreach, which add social value to Kensington and indeed the wider country.
