Felicity Buchan was invited to the Pepper Pot Centre today to join their Friday lunch.
Felicity sampled the jerk chicken, rice and peas and the Bajan Sorrel drink (a favourite of her team!). Her thoughts on the day can be found below:
Every time I visit the Pepper Pot Centre I am struck by the warmth, kindness and sense of community.
I enjoyed hearing from residents about how the Centre enables them to connect with their Afro-Caribbean heritage.
As we mark Windrush 75 I am, more than ever, conscious of the debt we owe to the Afro-Caribbean community.
On show today was the food, music, dance and history that has played an integral role here in Kensington, and across the country.
I also held a few informal surgery meetings hearing specific concerns from local residents.
A huge thanks to residents for welcoming me, I look forward to returning soon!
