I am thrilled that after my successful campaign, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has reversed a proposal to axe several bus routes across Kensington and Chelsea.
TfL was proposing to cut numbers 11, N11, 14, 31, 74, N74 and C3, whilst numbers 19, 27, 49, 211, 328, 414 and 430 would have faced changes and reductions.
Many of our residents rely on these buses to get to work, to medical appointments or to shop. The disruption to these established routes would have meant forcing people back to using cars or massively increased travel times using busier buses, with day-to-day commuters, disabled people and parents with pushchairs vying for limited space.
I was joined in my campaign by Greg Hands MP, Tony Devenish AM, Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, Leader of RBKC, Cllr Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler, and the LBHF Conservative Group Leader to stop this destruction of our public services.
My petition received nearly 2,500 signatures from residents after a months long campaign for sign ups.
I will continue to ensure local bus routes are preserved - whilst the Mayor plays politics, we are putting people first.
