Felicity Buchan has criticised the Labour Party for their plan to tax independent schools by charging VAT on fees.
Independent schools educate more than 500,000 children in the UK. The MP for Kensington argued that releasing even a few of these pupils into the state education sector would lead to huge disruption for millions of children, and that the policy itself would not raise nearly enough money to cater for the creation of new state school places.
Felicity said:
"Independent schools offer a big net benefit to Kensington and places like it across the country. The Labour Party would do well to stop taxing aspiration and appreciate this. Please find my campaign page, where you can sign my petition and make your voice heard, below."
