Felicity Buchan, the MP for Kensington, has issued the following statement:
"On behalf of the people of Kensington, I would like to convey our deepest condolences to the Royal Family.
It was with great sadness that I read the announcement from the Royal Family stating that 'The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon'.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the longest serving monarch in British history; a peerless public servant who devoted her life to the United Kingdom, her Realms, the Commonwealth, her Dependencies and her Territories.
She was revered across the generations here in the United Kingdom and around the world.
It is to the Royal Family our nation’s thoughts must now turn.
They have lost not just a highly respected figurehead, but a proud and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
So, we mourn today, and offer our condolences to all members of her beloved family.
Personally, I want to give thanks for the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Long live the King."
