I have concerns about the NHS's plans to use same day access hubs to triage patients who contact their general practice. In these hubs, they will assess patients’ needs and refer them. This may be an urgent or routine appointment with their GP, an appointment with a community pharmacist or other clinician or guidance on how best to treat their condition.
That means you may not see your GP on the same day for primary care.
There has been little communication with RBKC, MPs or residents on these proposals. I have had a meeting with Rob Hurd, the Chief Executive of North West London NHS to raise my concerns.
The proposals are set to come into force on April 1st.
You can read their initial announcement on their website here.
Following feedback from patients, GP practices, RBKC and me, the NHS issued a letter to GP practices setting out the feedback they have received and how they will take it forward in their planning.
You can read their response here.
