I want to thank the 1400 residents who have taken the time to sign the petition to stop the disruptive last-minute station closures.
Thanks to our campaign, action is being taken and the closures are becoming less frequent.
As you may know, Holland Park Tube and Lancaster Gate Stations were closed over 100 times each from January 2022 to August 2023, making it a completely unreliable service for local people.
Many residents rely on the tube to get to work, school, medical appointments or the shops so these closures simply aren't acceptable.
That’s why I have continuously called on TfL to take immediate and decisive action to address the problem.
After meeting with the TfL Commissioner to raise the issue at the end of last year, TfL started an initiative to recruit 500 customer service assistants, with over 200 offers being made so far.
This was a welcome step – and now, we are seeing service levels improve.
In December and January, Holland Park Tube Station closed 3 times each month. In February, there were no closures at Holland Park Tube Station.
It's good to see closures are becoming less frequent, but the campaign isn't over until these closures stop permanently.
So, if your friends, family and neighbours haven't already, please tell them to sign the petition to tell TfL to stop the station closures for good.
