Felicity Buchan visited the Royal Trinity Hospice today.
The hospice delivers free specialist palliative and end of life care for people living in Kensington, and other areas of South-West and Central London.
Felicity's reflections on the visit can be found below:
I am sincerely grateful to Emily Carter, the Chief Executive of the hospice for taking the time to meet with me today. Emily kindly toured me round the facilities, and I was struck by the sense of calm, compassion and support on show. At the Royal Trinity Hospice, residents are given both an individualised care plan, but also access to communal support groups, complementary therapies and day visits.
Despite being the oldest hospice in the UK, Royal Trinity is looking to the future. I enjoyed hearing about how community services will expand, building on existing success in this area - with 85% of care already delivered in the community.
I emphasised to Emily and the team that I will do all I can to support, particularly supporting the growth of the provision here in Kensington.
Once again, a huge thank you to the Hospice - I wish them continued success in the delivery of this critical provision for Londoners.
