Felicity Buchan MP has endorsed Liz Truss in the Conservative Party Leadership Contest.
Writing in Times Red Box, she said:
'We have seen during the Conservative leadership campaign the inspirational level of talent, diversity and breadth of views of the current Conservative Party.
As a child of the 1970s, when having a female prime minister was remarkable, it is quite something to know that, purely on merit, the Conservative Party has a choice between electing our third female prime minister or first ethnic minority leader.
But as conservatives we know that character, record, and policy matter more than identity.
Our nation is at a crossroads.
Our economy is suffering from global pressures, our climate is becoming more extreme, and the international arena is increasingly volatile.
In these circumstances, we need a leader who can be trusted to deliver.
I believe that Liz Truss is that leader.'
