Many residents have written to me with concerns about NatWest's proposed bank closures at their Notting Hill Gate and South Kensington branches.
Like them, I am worried that these closures will limit access to vital banking services that require face to face appointments, disproportionately affecting some of the most vulnerable members of our society: the elderly, the disabled, victims of fraud, those reliant on benefits and those with mental health vulnerabilities.
In our meeting NatWest recognised the community's concerns and will be holding open days on May 12th and May 15th to discuss the closures.
They will also be investing in new staff and machines at their High Street Kensington branch to alleviate the pressure of new customers using that branch instead.
I am calling on NatWest to create a Community Pop-Up to ease the impact of these closures. A Community Pop-Up would provide face-to-face and digital services to those who need them most.
