It has been a significant week in my Ministerial role. On Wednesday, I announced £220m of money allocated to Local Authorities for rough sleeping and homelessness measures. This consists of £107m to tackle rough sleeping and £109m for homelessness prevention.
The £107m will be used for specific projects to acquire and build properties to get rough sleepers off the streets and to provide them with intensive wrap-around support. A further £3m was announced to alleviate winter rough sleeping pressures.
This will make our total expenditure on rough sleeping and homelessness over 3 years £2.4 billion (up from an originally announced £2 billion).
This is an unprecedented amount of money to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness.
