Felicity has joined fellow MPs in celebrating the tenth anniversary of Same-Sex Marriage. Felicity reflected on the day, and you can read her thoughts below:
Today marks a momentous occasion as we celebrate the tenth anniversary of same-sex marriage in England and Wales.
It is a day of joy and reflection, as we recognize the progress made in advancing equality and inclusivity for all.
On this significant milestone, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of my LGBT+ constituents. Your resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to love and acceptance have played a vital role in shaping our society for the better.
As a member of the Conservative Party, I am proud to acknowledge our unique role in making the law change possible. It was under a Conservative-led government that the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 was passed.
This historic legislation was a testament to the belief in equality and fairness that lies at the heart of our party's values. It was a result of tireless efforts from activists, campaigners, and individuals who fought for their rights, as well as the support and dedication of Conservative MPs who championed this cause in Government.
